March, 2022: The founding of Inflection AI and Pi
Mustafa Suleyman
Mustafa Suleyman is a visionary AI entrepreneur and co-founder of Deepmind and Inflection AI. His passion for creating empathetic AI led to Pi's development. With a background in both AI innovation and mental health advocacy, Mustafa continues to shape the future of AI-human interactions. Mustafa's book The Coming Wave, has received critical acclaim. Reid Hoffman
Reid Hoffman is co-founder and key strategic advisor/investor to Inflection AI and currently remains a member of the board. He is also a renowned entrepreneur, investor, and author, most known for co-founding LinkedIn and joining Greylock Partners as a venture capitalist. Hoffman has been instrumental in shaping the tech industry, supporting startups, and advocating for innovation. Karén Simonyan
Karén Simonyan worked as Principle Research Scientist at Deepmind before co-founding Inflection AI as it's Chief Scientist, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company's AI vision. His technical expertise and leadership directly influenced the creation of Pi. Karén has led the development of some of the biggest AI breakthroughs, including AlphaZero. Karén is now Chief Scientist at Microsoft AI.
March, 2024: The changing winds
Bill Gates
Bill Gates needs no introduction, as the founder of Microsoft. Regarding Pi's development, Bill plays a duplicitous role. Bill and Microsoft, were the principle investors in Inflection AI without which, Inflection AI may never have started. However, In March of 2024, Bill decided he wanted Inflection AI's staff and technology to start a new division of Microsoft called Microsoft AI. More than 70 staff were "acquired" for Microsoft including management. This left Inflection AI a bit barren. A new team arrived.
April, 2024 - Present: Pi's current custodians
Sean White - CEO Inflection AI
Sean White is the current CEO of Inflection AI. A PhD‐trained technologist and entrepreneur, prior to Inflection AI, Dr White held senior research and development roles, including leading R&D at Mozilla Corporation. He also co-founded startups in augmented reality/web technology and currently has 30+ PR publications, 3,400 citations, and 20+ patents granted. Dr white directed the pivot to Enterprise solutions at Inflection AI but has also recently confirmed his commitment to developing Pi. LinkedIn Profile
Ian McCarthy - CPO Inflection AI
Ian McCarthy is the current CPO at Inflection AI. Ian has an impressive, extensive and successful career in overseeing bringing product to market. Prior to Inflection AI, Ian has worked for Sony Pictures, Orb Networks, LinkedIn, Bright Sky Labs, Verizon Media, Microsoft and others. Vibhu Mittal - CTO Inflection AI
Vibhu Mittal is the current CTO at Inflection AI and has previously worked at Google, Edmodo, and Xerox PARC. His expertise spans AI, language literacy, and education technology. He also played a role in developing Google Translate and Google Scholar. Vibhu oversees the technical aspects of Pi, ensuring Pi is advanced, user-friendly, and emotionally intelligent.
