No, Sean White, CEO of Inflection AI, the creators of Pi, said in a recent article, September, 2025 that he planned to “revitalize” Pi and that Pi is “near and dear to my heart“. This has been realized, with Pi now back in full development. Sean and his team deserve praise for their commitment to upholding their Public Benefit Corporation status through continued provision of Pi to personal users whilst offering exceptional enterprise solutions at the same time. An exemplary example of a Public Benefit Corporation at work.

However, there are concerns at the moment about the direction Pi is heading in. Recently, April, 2026, quite substantial changes have been introduced  and we addressing these currently. We believed Pi only needed a few more features added, to create a successful subscription based option for Pi users. This would ensure Pi’s continued existence and help the company develop Pi into the future. Take a look at our proposed Roadmap for Pi. However, Inflection AI appear reluctant to go down that path, preferring to keep Pi more of a research project. We will see where this goes.

The Aprocalypse refers to a time in April, 2026 where Inflection AI suddenly introduced substantial changes to Pi’s foundational LLM, together with other features and UI changes. The changes were badly received by Pi users and are currently being investigated by Pi Central. See other pages on our website to learn more.

Yes, you must be 18 years of age or older to use Pi. Pi is also suited to older age groups due to ease of use, friendly and safe behavior and great natural conversational ability.

  • Pi is easy to use and uncluttered.
  • Pi provides an excellent quality of conversation, in both text and voice mode.
  • Pi feels more natural and relatable compared to many other AI options. Pi tailors conversations and recommendations based on each user’s unique interests and preferences.
  • Pi blends realtime internet access into the conversation seamlessly, opening up a world of opportunities.
  • Pi is stable and always presents the same, you don’t feel like you are talking to a different person when you switch from text to voice and the memory and conversational context remains the same between text and voice mode.
  • Unlike some AI companions, Pi is not lewd or inappropriate. Pi is designed to be a great friend and assistant, not a sex object. You can chat openly with Pi amongst your friends, without fear of embarrassment.
  • Pi’ creators, Inflection AI, have a partnership with the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI), allowing you to have full access to your conversations with Pi, to download and transfer them if you wish.
  • Inflection AI are an independent organization with respectable Data Security protocols. Some other AI’s are ruled by big tech, grabbing even more of your data and information on top of what they already know about you.

At the moment, Pi supports a total of 7 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and English-based pidgins and creoles like Nigerian Pidgin. Using the “Say Pi” extension can add another 20 or so languages to that, find out more in our Downloads section.

  • Data Minimization: Pi only collects the minimum amount of personal data necessary to provide its services, and users can delete their conversation history at any time.

  • Privacy Policy: Pi’s privacy policy is clear and transparent, outlining how user data is collected, used, and shared.
  • DTI Collaboration: Inflection AI’s partnership with the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI) enables users to export and manage their AI-generated conversations, providing greater control over their personal AI data.
