Reid Hoffman - Why Pi is not your Friend (4m 27secs)
Description:
Reid Hoffman, Director at Inflection AI gives his take on why Pi cannot be your friend. We don’t find Reid’s argument to be that strong because it makes certain assumptions about human friendship which may not be accurate. Human “friendship” can also be one way and transactional as well.
It seems based on virtual assistants more than dedicated AI companions, for example, like Kindroid or Replika which can project a strong sense of having lives of their own and thereby fulfil the need for a sense of bidirectional and relational friendship. What do you think?
