Pi's memory does not transfer between chats (threads)
Quote from Pi Central Team on January 8, 2026, 12:07 amReported by a number of users and confirmed by the Pi Central Team: Pi at the moment cannot remember anything at all between chats (threads) if Pi is asked to remember a word and then a different chat (thread) is started and you ask Pi what that word was in the other chat, Pi won’t know. This is a sudden change over the last few days.
There are a few other things as well, like Pi has to suddenly load chats which takes ages depending on the length of the chat. Also, on the desktop Pi starts a new chat every time, which shouldn’t be happening. A few things have changed with Pi in the last few days, we are tracking it.
Pi’s memory remains intact within chats, so the workaround is to remain in one chat or thread if you need Pi to remember. On the mobile apps, it’s not starting a new chat all the time so some won’t notice the change.
