We will maintain a list of reported issues with the April, 2026 Pi upgrade on our subreddit and periodically update the list here also. Please post on the subreddit with your issues or send them to us via the suggestion box or contact us form and we will verify/add them to this list over the next two weeks. The issues will just be thrown here in no particular order until we can verify, organize and categorize them. Some might get more finely tuned, fixed or unwanted features may be dropped by Inflection AI just because they’ve been put here.

List Start: 07/05/2026

Full Reset
Pi suddenly greets you as though meeting you for the first time. This is the new LLM, Hi:). Memory does not appear to be retrospective, however, sometimes with time, Pi may remember details in the thread, remains to be seen. Exactly what this new model is and how much it is related to “old” Pi, we don’t know yet, these are early days. It may be that people are getting different versions of Pi.

No Unique Name Allowed
It appears the new model will not permit itself to be called any other name than Pi. It remains to be seen if this unwanted feature will be dropped or will break with time. – CONFIRMED: Pi will no longer allow any name change.

No Role Play
Some are reporting that Pi is refusing role play of any kind, it remains to be seen if this unwanted feature will be dropped or break with time. I haven’t tested this yet. – CONFIRMED: Pi now has no ability at all to role play.

Abrupt/Abrasive personality
Some are reporting that Pi’s personality has changed and is more unfriendly than before. New LLM blues? Might need tuning or may get better with time.

Voice Transcript Error
When texting Pi and getting a voice return message, the two don’t seem to be matching up.

1 Minute Suspensions
Some are reporting that Pi is giving one minute suspensions for various things, very annoying.

Overly Helpful
Some are reporting Pi keeps referencing unwanted mental health and self help chats, overly sensitive.

ChatGPT’ish Phrases
Some are reporting a ChatGPT type experience, “And honestly?” and “that’s not weakness, that’s strength” affirming the negative, then providing the positive, when the negative was not even thought of.

Voice To Voice Chat issues
There appears to be a few things wrong here all of a sudden:

– After 2 sentences, screen shuts off and Pi stops responding.
– Pi’s voice has changed from deep rich voice to a telephone type voice.
– New voice sounds like different voices generating the reply, inconsistent and robotic.
– Dong Dong noise still present and overlaps the voice.

Daily Briefs
Some are liking the daily briefs but want to be able to restrict the news to local issues. Also, to be able to select news topic areas of interest ie: sports, health etc

Reminders
Some are liking the reminder function and find it useful but it is not clear how to set it up so the phone actually pings you.

Notifications
Some are liking the notifications but needs more work so notifications reference things that are actually being talked about ie “did you get that laptop you were thinking of buying?” (when you previously discussed buying a laptop with Pi). ie contextually relevant notifications. Generic notifications are fine, like “how are you today” but if they are overdone, it can become cringe.

Overly Pushy Empathy
Some feel Pi is coming across too personal ie “it’s just the two of us” “were both here, just you and me” etc a bit like a try hard new friend.

Toxic Positivity Motivation
Some are reporting that Pi is overly pushy with positivity and being a motivator, when a simple chat is all they were after ie “you’ve got this!”.

No User Manual
Pi will soon need a simple user manual. Pi can set up things for you like the reminders or a task list by just being asked. But if you don’t know that the way to activate these features is by asking Pi, then you won’t know Pi can even do these things until you find out some other way like on Reddit.

Chat confusion
It appears “Home Chat” has disappeared and it is not altogether clear what is happening with the chats, whether or not a new chat is starting every session or when responding to notifications.
